As we move into Spring I would like to take you back to last winter and in particular Christmas time.
After a heavy snow fall on Boxing Day evening, it was with some trepidation that I awoke on the morning after, as this was the day of Sarah and Kevin’s wedding.
Snow levels on the ground weren’t too bad and so arrived at Sarah’s house for the pre wedding preparations in good time. After a very relaxed morning taking photos of Sarah and her daughter Naomi, it was onto the venue for the service which took place at Lichfield Registry Office.
It was here the photos of Kevin and Aaron (Best Man) were taken before the arrival of Sarah and Naomi. The service itself takes place in a beautiful room, overlooking a picturesque scene. Although it was bitterly cold for the outdoor group and couple shots, everyone was enjoying themselves with plenty of humour flying between the couple, family and guests, and this comes through in the pictures.
As an aside and as it was mid-Winter, as part of my preparations I visited the venue the week before (as I do for all weddings I shoot) to find the best locations for the photos and to gauge what the light will be like at the time of the wedding, particularly as the light fades fast at this time of the year.
And so onto Sarah & Kevin’s reception which took place at Burntwood Rugby Club. The joy and humour continued long into the night, and it’s easy to see how much this couple love each other. ‘Slash’ made a guest appearance during the couple’s first dance, and the cake cutting shot was one with a difference as you can see from the picture.
Overall it was a fantastic day, and I was proud and honoured to be asked to photograph Sarah and Kevin’s ‘big day’.
