As well as photography my other passion is music, and in particular live music. Therefore it was a dream come true when I was commissioned by Dean of Rattle & Drum Promotions Limited to photograph The Mersey Beatles at the Prince Of Wales Theatre, Cannock, Staffordshire.
The band come from Liverpool and “……since 1999 they have been recreating the sights and sound of the Fab Four with a very authentic Beatles tribute”. The band tour extensively throughout the year and this particular gig was their last in the UK prior to going to America for a series of dates.
The night consisted of songs from all the eras of The Beatles, and throughout the evening I was able to take photos from different vantage points around the venue.
As you can see from the photos, I’ve processed the images sympathetic to the 1960’s era where appropriate.
With PA Hire (http://www.cannocksoundhire.co.uk) providing the sound system the music was perfect for the capacity crowd to enjoy.
The first half consisted mainly of pre Sgt. Pepper songs and if you closed your eyes you could imagine yourself being back in the 1960’s.
The second half were songs from the post Sgt. Pepper era and as you can see from the photos on http://www.thjphotography.jamesfarley.co.uk/portfolio/the-mersey-beatles-april-2015/, the crowd were dancing in the aisles.
This was a top night’s worth of entertainment and I would thoroughly recommend you try and catch The Mersey Beatles when they’re at a venue near you. For further details please go their website at http://www.themerseybeatles.com/.
