60th Birthday Party

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

Just as I was finishing photographing Emma and Paul’s wedding last year, Paul’s mother Ann approached me and told me that she was having an Hawaiian themed 60th party in April of this year, and stated she would ask me to photograph it.

True to her word, I got a telephone call from Ann earlier this year and I was delighted to agree to photograph her special event.

The venue for this event was Fishley Park, Bloxwich and I hadn’t been here since my wedding reception I June 1989. So as you can see this venue holds some very special memories for me.

As each guest arrived they were presented with a Hawaiian Lei, as was I, the photographer. The most popular concept of a lei in Hawaiian culture is that it is presented upon arriving or leaving as a symbol of affection.

The party was attended by close family and friends and the photographs (http://www.thjphotography.jamesfarley.co.uk/portfolio/anns-60th-party-april-2015/)  show the wide age range of people attending. As you can see, the lei was a fitting presentation from Ann.

Throughout the night photographs were taken of the guests and the cake, and one that was specifically requested, Ann with her Grandchildren. All in all this was a special event for a special person in a special venue.

If you know of anyone that requires their event photographing please feel free to share my website and contact details with them.

Surprise Party

In addition to weddings, family shoots and event photography I have also been asked to photograph Birthday parties.

These are great fun for everyone, including me as the photographer. They’re similar to evening receptions at weddings, in that everyone attending is there to enjoy the occasion.

Sally was throwing a surprise 30th Birthday party for her fiancé Luke, and I was honoured when she asked me to photograph the occasion. The event took place at Goals Soccer Centre, Black Country in Willenhall, West Midlands, on the 31st January.

Having arrived ahead odd time and having the luxury of time, I photographed the detail that goes into making these evenings a success, including the homemade and hand decorated birthday cake.

As the guests gathered for Luke’s arrival I was able to get a few shots of them as they milled and mingled.

It’s always an exciting time waiting for the unsuspecting person at these occasions, and this one was no different. Luke turned up with his mates and the surprise turned out successfully for Sally.

Overall at great night was enjoyed by everyone and you can see these in the photos http://www.thjphotography.jamesfarley.co.uk/portfolio/lukes-surprise-30th-party-january-2015/
